Swimming – A sport for life

There aren’t many sports that can claim to save lives, but that’s exactly what swimming does. Whether swimming for survival or swimming for sport, the experts agree that every child in Australia should know how to swim. But that’s not happening. Royal Life Saving Australia estimates that one in five children leave primary school without the ability to swim the length of an Olympic sized pool (50 metres). CEO Rob Bradley says the issue is of grave concern as potentially thousands of Australian children are leaving primary school with virtually no ability to swim. Continue reading

Vacswim – Making water safer

Thousands of children from all over the state are preparing for the annual pilgrimage to the beach, pool or lake for the Vacswim program. Vacswim has been an iconic part of the South Australian summer for generations.
